Before the international developer comes in to replace the pristine natural beauty with a man-made concrete jungle, Myanmar is the least affected by the multinationals even among the developing countries, but no country can insulate herself from inexorable encroachment of entrepreneurs forever.

Myanma flora and fauna are distinct but how long can they survive is anybody’s guess. Freshwater creatures are still populated at rivers and lakes. Migratory birds can be found on marshlands and upper reaches of Irrawaddy ( Now renamed Ayeyawady ).

Myanmar

Geographically Myanmar lies between Indian sub-continent and People's Republic of China. It is the largest country in the South-East Asian Peninsula. It has 135 different races living inside her borders. Myanmar shares borders with Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. It also has a coast of over 2200 kms - 80% of it is silt-free. Rocky coast offers peaceful coves and lagoons. Sandy coast boasts numerous beaches with white sand. Tropical climate does rise to over 200 sunny days a year.

On land it has arid dry zone at the centre, cool northerm hilly region, Savana-like Eartern Plateau, flat and rainy deltaic rocky region, and two thin rocky coastal strips facing the Andaman Sea. Southern tip of the country is only 9 degrees from equator, but northern end is overwhelmed with snow-covered 19296-feet high mountain range.

The country is a secular republic though her population and almost 80% parctice Buddhism . A mosque stands only a few meters away just across the street from the second most important religious monument of Sule Pagoda. Populace generally is not so affluent but contented. Myanmar peoples’ smile is legendary.

Yangon

The capital of Myanmar was founded from a small fishing village in B.C 6th century, namely as Dagon. In 1775 A.D when a Burmese king known as Alaungphaya conquered the lower Myanmar, it was named Yangon, meaning the "End of hostility". Gradually after the British annexation in 1885, Yangon was changed into an administration center. Lush tropical trees, shady parks and beautiful lakes, make Yangon "Garden city of the East" with many special attractions for the tourists with its oldest Buddhist shrine, Shwedagon Pagoda also known as the golden stupa dating back to over 2500 years. 

Thanlyin (Syriam)

A former settlement of Portuguese seafarers, across the Bago River. 

Twantay

A small riverine town famous for manufacturing Myanmar pottery. Only a three-hour boat ride from Yangon.

Bago
The former Mon ancient capital that shined with great glory, throughout Myanmar during 1 5th century A.D.
Kyaiktiyo ( Golden Rock )

The famous pagoda erected on a huge boulder, which rests upon a rock edge. The boulder does not seem to touch the rock edge. Could be reached by hiking up the mountain, or by car. 160 km from Yangon, and 11 km of hiking from the base camp. 

Pyay

Formerly called ( Prome ) - Pyay is on the east bank of Ayeyawady. It is only a few kilometers from the archaeological site of Sirikhittra.  Prototypes of stupas, adorned Conical or   Cylindrical shaped stupa can be observed at its site.  Sirikhittra Museum has a large collection of early 3rd-9th century artifacts recovered from excavation are displayed.  

Bagan

Noted as the birthplace of Myanmar Civilization and Culture. Dates back to 11th century. Globally known as the richest archaeological site in Asia with more than 2000 different Buddhist Monuments across the area.

Mt. Popa
An extinct volcano erupted during B.C 442, known as the official home for the 37 Mahagiri nats (spirits) and an important worshiping center. Green environ amidst the tropical zone could only be seen around Popa. The Hill Resort Hotel, Golf Club and the rare specimens of herbal plantations support Popa with a great panoramic view. It locates 40 km southeast of Bagan.
Mandalay

The last capital of Myanmar Kingdom. Today presents the rich secret traditional arts and crafts including the riches of monasteries and pagodas. Mandalay is also a place where one will never miss to explore the real Myanmar life.

Amarapura

An ancient capital founded in 1783, situated on the road to Sagaing about 11 km south of Mandalay with worthy places to visit.

Innwa

Situated in the confluence of Ayeyarwaddy and Myitnge Rivers. It had been a Myanmar Kingdom for nearly five-centuries with specimen of Myanmar architectures.

Sagaing

One of the most picturesque sites in Myanmar, with a number of pagodas crowning the top of the hills.

Mingun

A village noted for its huge unfinished pagoda and the second world's largest bronze bell. Situated about 11 km north of Mandalay.

Monywa

Famous for its sand stone mountains with extraordinary caves and distinctive kinds of lacquerwares. Situated on the east bank of Chindwin River, 134 km west of Mandalay.  

Pyinoolwin

Known as "floral hill station" catches the glimpse of scenic beauty with a meandering uphill road. Locates 69 km to the east of Mandalay.

Taunggyi
 

A popular hill resort station located 1430 meter above sea level is the capital of Southern Shan State.

Inle Lake

The only unique water world surrounded by mountains. Vast and exotic picturesque, well known for its leg rowers, and floating farms. Situated 900 meters above sea level.

Pindaya

Famed for its cave where thousands of stone Buddha images are to be found. Kalaw : A peaceful summer hill station resort, fragranting with pine trees nestling in the heart of Shan Hill, situated 1400 m above sea level.

Sittwe ( Akyab )

Generally referred to as Akyab in the past. The capital of Rakhine State situated in the western part of Myanmar. Famous for its beautiful beaches, and unique culture totally different from other major Myanmar ethnic groups.

Mrauk - U ( Myohaung )

The last ancient city in Rakhine State founded in A. D 1433, known as Myohaung in the past is as significant as Bagan, untouched with its archaeological sites. The gateway to Mrauk-U could only be reached from Sittwe within a five-hour boat trip.

Ngapali Beach

The best-known beach resort of Myanmar, which grants an idyllic peaceful scenic location for leisurely enjoyment and a clear unspoilt seaside paradise where you can frolic in the sea without a care.
